Used UPVC Windows & Doors.Just letting everyone know we close in an hour 😀 Hyde Park is a district in Sheffield, England. The area is named after fields that occupied the area in the early 19th century which were used by Sheffield Cricket Club as a home venue from 1824 to 1856. Main article: Hyde Park Ground The area was used for important matches between 1824 and 1856 as a home venue of Sheffield Cricket Club.[1] The fields provided enough space for up to 10 cricket matches at a time. It was the site of the first "Roses Match" between Yorkshire and Lancashire on 23–25 July 1849. Hyde Park was the site of the earliest large scale slum clearance in Britain, the previous back-to-back housing having been known as "Little Chicago" in the 1930s, due to the violent crimes sometimes committed there. The area was partially razed before the Second World War. The nearby Park Hill housing estate was built between 1957 and 1961. Designed by Jack Lynn and Ivor Smith, the deck access scheme, inspired by Le Corbusier's Unité d'Habitation and the Smithson's unbuilt schemes, most notably for Golden Lane in London, was viewed as revolutionary at the time.

The concept of the flats was described as streets in the sky. Broad decks, wide enough for milk floats, had large numbers of front doors opening onto them. Each deck of structure, except the top one, has direct access to ground level at some point on the sloping site.

Although initially popular and successful, over time the fabric of the buildings decayed somewhat and some other disadvantages have become apparent. The buildings at Hyde Park were partially demolished and refurbished for use in the 1991 Summer Universiade.

Oiling An Interior Door | Waxing An Interior Door Unless otherwise stated, usually by a phrase such as ‘prefinished’ or similar, any timber product we sell will be shipped ‘in the white’. This means that it will be bare raw timber and needs to be decorated on site by you or your installer/decorator. Any product supplied in the white should be fully decorated prior to installation. Any cut-outs made for locks, hinges etc. and any edges which are cut to suit during installation will need to be fully coated as detailed below. A simple quick once over is not adequate for these areas, and they must be fully decorated. Before painting/staining your door, pin holes on beading etc. should be filled using a filler which will match your desired colour. You should ensure that this will stain to the same shade you are wanting to achieve on the entire door. Internal doors can be treated with paint or varnish type finishes. Some types such as the oak engineered internal doors may be treated with Danish Oil or similar.

Be sure to apply four coats to a new door and fresh coats periodically. NEVER use any of the following types of products: - * Water based, be it a varnish or paint (eg. Ronseal Quick Drying Woodstain) * Natural/Plant oil other than those mentioned above (Vegetable oil, Soya Bean oil etc. or any product based on these such as Osmo) These will cause adverse effects to your doors and void your warranty. Please note: Doors in high humidity areas such as airing cupboards, bathrooms and shower rooms etc. require external quality treatment to maintain the correct moisture content as mentioned below. Be sure to seal inside lock cut outs, behind hinges, both the top edge and bottom edge underneath the door, and door sides to prevent moisture entering the timber. This is because the timber has a specific moisture content that must be maintained. Failure to do so will void your warranty. Both sides of the door should be done at the same time to ensure correct moisture content is maintained throughout the entire thickness of the door.

Failure to do this can result in one side drying out causing the door to bow. Briwax Original Wax Polish These are some suggestions but before applying wax or Danish oil you MUST contact the manufacturer before using to ensure suitability. Briwax Technical Advice Centre: 0208 658 2299 We are stockists on both Briwax Danish Oil and Briwax Original Wax Polish. See our Decorating Products section for more information. Regardless of how many coats any particular treatment product may say is required, our terms and conditions require the minimum as detailed above. Regular maintenance of coatings is a must. Over time UV rays, weather, as well as general wear and tear, will break down the decoration on the products. This is the same for all treatments that may be applied or are factory applied. Application of top up coats should be applied with a maximum duration between each coat of 2 years. However this will vary depending upon your location and the wearing of the coating.

In extreme circumstances it may be required as often as every 6 months. If any door (and/or frame) manufacturer has given finishing advice then this must be adhered to over the advice given above. This especially applies to items such as external doors when being fitted in internal locations. Such doors may require an exterior quality finish when fitted internally. We advise that clear varnish is not used with hardwood (including oak) doors. By this we mean that within our website many doors are termed ‘hardwood’ and a specific hardwood species in not given. In this case there may be different species or sub-species used in the same item. While these may be very similar in colour prior to varnishing/treating they may be completely different after treating. Clear varnish can exaggerate this difference. By no means will a coloured stain/varnish eliminate the possibility of this but it does reduce the risk. Such a colour difference is not considered a defect. More information on this is detailed in our Terms page.

Normally we will provide pin holes in beadings and mouldings unfilled. This is to ensure you can match the filler to your chosen colour of decoration. In the past, we have filled pin holes with filler matching the bare timber, only to receive complaints that this does then not match after the door is decorated. If we put in a darker shade of filler, and the doors are clear waxed, we receive the same complains but because the filler is too dark. Similar applies for customers who want to use a very dark colour decorating product. We cannot pre-fill the pin holes with something that matches all suitable decoration products while ensuring that all customers tastes and preferences are matched. A clear varnish/stain can exaggerate the colour difference between the timber and the filler. A coloured stain does tend to help any filler match better. If any pin holes are not filled these should be done with a weatherproof filler, if external, and the colour chosen to match your final treatment.
