“Eye of the Tiger” has been on repeat for a while now. There are baristas everywhere doing stretches and star jumps. They might as well be wearing activewear. I’m pretty sure I saw one person with their own engraved milk jug that said “Texturise Dis”. I think we may have awoken something truly wonderful on the Central Coast. Everyone brought their A game and we freakin’ loved it. Laura Robertson recounts the glory that was our Inaugural Latte Art Throwdown.Latte art truly is an art form. We witnessed this firsthand as we hosted our very first Latte Art Throwdown. The rules were simple: roll the dice, spin the milk & whoever wins goes on to the next round. We had swans, tulips, wave hearts & freaky good free pours. Judges selected at random included cafe owners, audience members and coffee enthusiasts alike.Local cafe owners & staff showed up from Barber Shop Espresso (Toukley) Bella Natural Food Co (Terrigal), Boy & the Rose (North Avoca), Ooomph (East Gosford/Avoca), Like Minds (Avoca), Cosmo Coffee (Tuggerah), Box on the Water (Ettalong), Coffee Guru (Kincumber), Jimmy G’s (Gosford), The Secret Cafe (Charmhaven), Roller Door Espresso Bar (Erina), & Glee Coffee (Erina/Wyong).
There was beer, cheese & a brew bar manned by Joe Le Mura from Bombora Supplies (AKA The Filter Coffee Wizard) and Justin Smith (AKA The Swan Princess). wooden front doors suffolkAll entrants received some home brew gear from our friends at Bombora, as well as some Ethiopian Guji from us (we couldn’t resist...it’s just too good).antique pine doors manchesterIn the end it came down to David Habkouk from Barber Shop Espresso & Tristan Bignell from Bella Natural Food co. garage door repair tacoma waThese guys were serious. cabinet doors edmonton albertaThey both wanted that beautiful fake gold trophy (we may have led them to believe that it was made of pure gold). sears patio door handle

If no one else was around, I feel certain he could have broken into song (Ricky Martin’s “Cup of Life”, naturally). All jokes aside, there’s something special about bringing a bunch of talented baristas and coffee lovers together. This sort of community can only benefit the local coffee scene and we are so stoked to be a part of that. This is the first of many Throwdowns. So here’s to coffee community, latte art and the death of soy decaf mochas.Next stop, Newcastle.Stay caffeinated,LauraP.s. We would love to see your latte art.
