The original carpet when we moved in was a very thick orange shag. We tore it out and re did the oak floors. The result was stunning however our doors looked like yours. It really bugged me. We replaced all the interior doors with white embossed. I was lucky and found an old hardware store going out of business and got them for 5 bucks each! It was a great buy but replacing the doors really made a huge impact on the over all look of the house. I would do it again in a heartbeat even if I had to pay full retail. You could probably replace the doors for embossed ones for about 23 - 25 dollars depending in size. It really does change the whole feel of the house.
