You should check to be sure the sensors are still aligned and pointing at each other, not obstructed by anything, the wires are still connected properly and that the lenses are free and clear of debris or spider webs. If constant pressure on your opener’s wall control button will travel the door down, that is a good indication you have a problem with the sensors. I will try some new ones tomorrow if they sell them at HD or the hardware store. Hubs is positive it isn't the sensors but they aren't lighting up at all so I am pretty sure it is . The door will go down if you use the force close button on the unit itself but goes right back up as soon as you let it go. The door doesn't do anything with the wall button right now. There are actually two type wall mounted/control units. One hard wired to the unit as in maybe the same as the force close button and the other type although wall mounted, is a remote control such as in your car. The wall unit is wired to the opener. 4,775 posts, read 8,012,407 times Originally Posted by ZippymanHubby seems to think they are lighting up--but it's just the sun shining on the lights . Picked up the sensors-$34-got everything ready to switch them out--simple, take off the wires from the old ones, hook them up to the new ones, screw into wall, except that I'm not tall enough to reach the outlet that the door opener unit is plugged into even on a ladder . I have to wait for hubby to come home. No, just the sensors. We had the wiring replaced about 5 years ago so I didn't think it was that, but I guess it was.
