VolunteerThe Bishop Dudley Hospitality House is always in need of volunteers to check-in guests, service meals and various other service projects. Volunteers provide much needed support to the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House mission and staff. Your help in providing 24/7 service to the most vulnerable in our community is greatly appreciated. Please see the list of volunteer opportunities below. To become a volunteer or to ask questions about group volunteer opportunities, sign up below or give us a call! Volunteers must be 18 years of age or accompanied by a guardian. Some opportunities are best served by adults only. Guest Check-In BDHH opens its doors for nighttime guests at 6:30 pm each evening.  From 6:30 pm until 10 pm, guests are greeted, personal belonging are reviewed and they are offered a warm shower and a clean bunk.  Multiple staff members are present during these hours; however, many situations are greatly benefitted by additional helping hands. New guests must fill out paperwork on the night of their first stay. 

Families need additional personal care products. Towels and sheets are distributed, etc.Volunteers for Guest Check-in are asked to arrive at 6 pm for a short orientation on their first evening of service. After the orientation, volunteers may arrive at 6:15 pm and can serve until 8:30 pm or as necessary.Lunch ProgramLunch is served five days each week (Monday through Friday) to our guests.  Preparation of the meal can take place on site or in your facility (church kitchens, etc.).  A menu and recipes are available from our staff.  Serving the meal requires approximately 4-5 volunteers starting at 11:30 am and takes approximately 30 minutes.Front Desk Each day a front desk volunteer allows staff to take lunch breaks from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm.  Answering the phone, directing guests to the daytime programs and doing some clerical duties are part of this volunteer opportunity. Individuals that are available to volunteer on a regular basis are welcome as some training is required to familiarize themselves with staff, procedures, etc.
