In the UK, DORMA Glass was introduced in 1986; DORMA Entrance Systems Ltd was established in 1991, to focus on the automatic door sector; and within 12 months a sister company, Access Control & Maintenance Engineering Ltd, was founded to deal with the service and maintenance of our automatic door installations. DORMA subsequently acquired another four service companies (Permclose Door Services Ltd, Door and Window Services Ltd, Dor-Tech Nationwide Ltd, Specialized Door and Window Services Ltd) allowing us to increase the range of services to cover manual and industrial doors. The Racecourse is not part of the University and is located on the opposite side of Cheltenham to the Park Campus. Car parking is available on site and will be provided free of charge. Please follow signs to the Members Car Park and / or the direction of the car parking stewards upon arrival. Frequent bus services run from the railway station in Cheltenham (Cheltenham Spa) as well as the town centre to the ‘Racecourse Park and Ride’ car park which is a short walk from the venue entrance. Please see the Stagecoach bus website for full timetables.  Please allow plenty of extra travel time to make sure you arrive in the Centaur at least 1 hour before your ceremony. Disabled (blue badge) parking is available close to The Centaur entrance. Please ask a parking steward upon arrival. There is also a drop-off point by the main Centaur doors for those with elderly or less mobile relatives but no blue badge.
**Please note that there are no cash machines or storage facilities for coats, bags, luggage etc. at the venue** Entry to The Centaur is by printed or electronic copy of your ticket only for graduates and guests. Please arrive at the venue no later than one hour before the advertised ceremony start time and please enter via the main doors to The Centaur building (there is a one way system in place). If the graduate arrives earlier than the guests, they will need to return to the door with their ticket to grant the guests entry. You will be able to book your place and buy guest tickets from April 19, 2016 until 7 September. Registration is a crucial part of the proceedings and you must register immediately upon arrival (your designated registration point is indicated on your ticket). Once registered, students must not then leave the venue. If you do not register we will assume that you are absent and your name will therefore not be read and you will not cross the stage. NB: Students arriving late may not be able to participate in the ceremony at all.
Please therefore allow plenty of travel time to ensure that the graduate is at the venue no later than one hour before the ceremony start time. If you have registered a special requirement for you or a guest, the university will be in contact a week or so before the ceremony to confirm the exact details for you. Please let us know if your requirements have changed. Pre-ceremony drinks (included in ticket) will be available for students and guests in the sales arena, located directly opposite the foyer exit. This area leads into the gowning room and so should be used as a meeting point before the ceremony starts. Post-ceremony hospitality (tea/coffee and cake) are included in the ticket and will be available for graduates and guests in hospitality suites located just off the Hall of Fame and near to the exit. Gowns can be collected from the Betting Hall (access through the pre-ceremony hospitality area). Gowns can be collected from two hours before the start of the ceremony.
Please ensure that you bring the booking reference number / confirmation e-mail with you. It is your responsibility to hire your gown. or telephone 01223 861854. If you do not have a gown, you will not be able to take part in the ceremony. The deadline for ordering a gown is four weeks before the ceremony. It is recommended that you wear a top or shirt that buttons up to the neck, as this makes it easier to attach the hood. Alternatively, please bring safety pins with you! Ede and Ravenscroft provide a professional graduation portrait service which is available throughout the day in the main Grandstand. It is recommended that you book this service in advance of the day to avoid queues. The photography studios are always busiest in between ceremonies so please try to avoid this where possible. Please be aware that university photographers will be present throughout the ceremonies and will be taking photographs which will be used in future publicity materials. If you do not wish to have your photograph taken, please make this known to the photographer.
The ceremony will take place in The Centaur auditorium and will last from approximately one and a half to two hours. Please ensure that you are seated 20 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony. Students are allocated a specific seat on the ground floor alongside fellow students from their course. Students are NOT permitted to change to seats as this will disrupt the running order of the ceremony and may mean that your name isn’t read out. Ushers will be on hand throughout the ceremony to guide you through the necessary stages. Guests may use any of the unallocated/unlabelled seating in the auditorium. It is advisable to arrange a meeting point near the photography area with your guests to be used once the ceremony is over (NB you cannot go back to the foyer or pre-ceremony areas but must follow the one way system around to the grandstand and hall of fame). Please follow the one-way system and head towards the Hall of Fame and the grandstand after your ceremony where you can meet up with your guests (you cannot return to the pre-ceremony area, foyer or gown collection area after the ceremony).
