Bifolds only require a flat jamb. If you require removal of an existing swing door jamb, refer to the "Hume How To" film above for a complete overview of this process. Measure your stud opening. Use these measurements to purchase your new Hume bifold. Try our new "Virtual Showroom" it is a great tool to help assist with your selection process. Hume standard bifolds are manufactured to suit the opening sizes of 2060mm in height and 820mm, 770mm and 720mm in width. Allowance has already been made for track and hinges clearances. Mark a centre line for the head track and bottom jamb bracket. Ensure they both line up and are centred in the jamb. Ensure the track is cut to the correct length for the opening. Screw track to the head of the jamb (making sure the head is level) with the centre line above the intended centre line of the door when closed. Track should be firmly against the jamb at the pivot end towards which the door opens. Position the jamb bracket so that the centre line of the pivot hole is plumb with the centre line of the pivot socket in the top track.

Screw the bracket to both floor and the jamb. On to the bifold leaves, remove all transport blocks. Seal your bifold top and bottom with two coats of undercoat and two coats of paint. Refer to manufacturer’s warranty. Once sealed fit the bottom pivot in the leaf nearest to the jamb, several light taps with a hammer should insert it properly. Locate the top spring pivots and place in holes on the top of the bifold leaves. Hume standard bifolds come pre-drilled for this hardware. For horizontal adjustment of bifold loosen the adjusting screw on the bottom jamb bracket, slide the pivot socket in the required direction and tighten screw. Repeat this operation on the top pivot socket. For vertical adjustment change the gap above the bifold. Using the spanner provided turn the adjusting nut on the bottom pivot clockwise to raise the bifold, anticlockwise to lower. To install the bifold, fold both leaves together and lower the bifold to locate the bottom pivot in the bottom jamb bracket.
