Our barn doors accommodate up to 2 inches but a header can be used for thicker doors. If your door is thicker than 1.75 inches - please add that in the note to seller upon purchase and we will send you a larger floor guide at no additional cost. The barn door hardware track is 3/16” thick, and 1 1/2" wide.
All barn door hardware tracks over 6 feet long will be shipped in two sections, and all tracks longer than 12 feet will be shipped in three sections with center splice. Shipping longer tracks in multiple sections prevents the track from bending during the shipping process. Our barn door hardware can support 300+ lbs depending on if the track is installed correctly into the wall studs. The floor guide is optional. You will receive one with a kit purchase, so you may choose to use it or not.  Floor guides prevent the barn door from swinging towards and away from the wall. That depends on the thickness of your barn door. Our standard track sticks out just over 2 inches from the wall.  If your barn door is 1.75”thick, then you would have a .25”gap. Yes, but it must be weather treated. If left unfinished and exposed to any moisture, it will rust. The barn door should be at least 2-4 inches bigger than the opening, but that is subjective to your taste and home's decor.
