It's got more emotional depth than most frothy romantic comedies, and its central idea--the parallel tracking of two possible destinies for a young London professional played by Gwyneth Paltrow--is full of involving possibilities. It's essentially a what-if scenario with Helen (Paltrow) at the center of two slightly but significantly different romantic trajectories, one involving her two-timing boyfriend (John Lynch) and the other with an amiable chap (John Hannah) who represents a happier outcome.

That's the film's basic problem, however: The two scenarios are so romantically imbalanced (one guy's a total cad, the other charmingly sincere) that Helen inadvertently comes off looking foolish and needlessly confused. Still, this remains a pleasant experiment, and Howitt's dialogue is witty enough to keep things entertaining. It's also a treat for Paltrow fans; not only does the svelte actress handle a British accent without embarrassing herself, but she gets to play two subtle variations of the same character, sporting different wardrobes and hairstyles in a role that plays into her glamorous off-screen persona. There've been several movies like this with what ifs sometimes people see the future and come back and correct it; some people never see the future. If you enjoy movies like "Happy Accidents" (2000) that you know the premise of this movie and will enjoy it also.

There have been better and worse presentations. This presentation hits the mark.Helen Quilley (Gwyneth Paltrow) makes it and doesn't make it to the sliding door of the subway. This is where the story split into two parts and we follow each Helen as she is the victim and the master of her fate. Luckily the producers of this film split it into nearly 2 completely different stories so we don't keep seen two versions of the same thing like in the movie "Run Lola Run." Notice also that Jeanne Tripplehorn plays an excellent antagonist.I am sure that you will enjoy this movie. You will find yourself kibitzing. And wondering what would I have done. Apart from a wonderful cast, hilarious moments, and great locale, it tells a story that makes us all have hope. The concept of the movie alone is worth watching the movie.

How do lives change when you just miss those sliding doors of the subway? We've all had those moments where we wonder how different things would have turned out if we had just...fill in the blank here... This film takes that question and runs with it. Gwyneth paltrow, is quite interesting in this film. It makes out that if she had got on the train what would of happened and if you hadn't, what she would of done then. The kind of the film you can watch once quite happily, but wouldn't want to see over and over again. Buy this movie if you like Paltrow and if you like originality and creativity in the story / plot of a movie.
