It was a custom door and took two weeks to get the ...glass. We picked it up yesterday and installed today. The door frame was 30 years old and we'd repaired a side sash with the interlock that had deteriorated. Installing that fixed piece was when I broke the glass. Installing the new glass took nearly an hour all the while we baked in the sun. No breeze, no shade. The sash install became a problem when door reinstalled. It was lacking solid metal to be attached properly. Another hour getting that worked out all the while we baked in the sun. Customer was very pleased (relieved as well, I imagine), Bear and I were soaked from sweat. Upside I got a farmer's tan. She's lives in a very nice condo on the beach which is nicely decorated and kept. She's experiencing knee problems and has a large vase filled with canes. She uses a walking chair to move around the place.
We discussed repairs of her doors of course, all six sets installed about 12 years ago. The doors have been maintained quite well. And, she was concerned about them all. I was actually s...urprised she was concerned because they're in better shape then the majority we see. They had room for improvement but I thought I only knew that...she wanted it too, she was specific and insistent on the cleaning and whatever it takes to make them perfect. All but one were in very good condition. Amazing really, 12 years beachside. Only her most accessed door appears in need of rollers. I suggested a maintenance on them all and new rollers for the one. She was pleased with idea and I sincerely believe it'll alleviate any of her concerns. Those doors were like what we see after six months to a year elsewhere. She wants them like new. She has high standards of maintenance for her home, it's obvious upon arrival. We had a brief conversation, health, family, chores, etc. with an optimistic view of life.
She is an amazing woman, person. She voluntarily gave up driving because she couldn't see well in her peripheral vision and didn't want to hurt anyone, herself or anything else. Terrific sense of humor and totally with it...great time meeting her. Two customers I'd scheduled for this last Monday. One had to reschedule. Now then, I'd written the other in for Monday but not the one rescheduling. Idk why I didn't record it on the schedule. When I got notice of their rescheduling I crossed out the other one thinking it was the one rescheduling. So my schedule looked empty for that morning. We booked a couple others in the open times.
