Buy Your Dream Car—for Less Than $6000 Every year at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show (SEMA), we attempt to digest all the hot new aftermarket products, cool cars and pioneering technical innovation. But as we're exploring every aisle of the show floor looking for the good stuff—we run into the bad. There're always a handful of cars so over-the-top, so strange and so, well, ugly, we have to stop and take a closer look. Style is subjective, but ugly sure is easy to spot. '57 T-Bird en Fuego'57 T-Bird en FuegoAt first glance, one might be tempted to give this '57 T-Bird a big thumbs up. However upon closer inspection...the Bird becomes an incongruent mix of old and new. We dig that monster motor and those fenderwell headers. But what's the deal with those way too tall and too-modern seats? The wheels and tires are certainly big, but some period-correct rubber work much better. V7 PrototypeV7 PrototypeThis mid-year Corvette is set to be auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson auction this January.

It's completely custom, with a mid-mounted turbo GM V8 with 1070 hp. The display card says it goes from 0-60 mph in less than three seconds. But none of that means anything if the car is ugly. And this "V7 Prototype" is certainly that. The fenders are bloated and the rearend of the car looks like it needs a serious nip/tuck. Why create such a complex and detailed hot rod and not fine tune the aesthetics?
