I was going buy the electric hoist but after reading the reviews for this product I decided to save the extra money. It took 2-3 hours to install and the directions can be complicated. We put ours up in a shed with exposed rafters. At first we mounted it to far back- the distance from the top of your jeep to the ceiling has to be the same or less than the distance from the center pulley to the back of your garage (to the block and tackle). After movingly it forward the install went great. It took me awhile to figure out the knots in the ropes but my guy did it his way and it's fine. It takes no effort to pull the top off by myself and it doesn't swing or sway. it is still cold here so I put it back on the next day, by myself. I was a bit nervous that it would drop to quickly but with the locking mechanism It works great lowering a little at a time. As you let it down,you can center it on the jeep with one hand. This worked fantastic and took 10 minutes to put on bolt it and drive away.

I am so happy I got this! No more begging and pleading with children, boyfriend or friends to take the top off!! Perfect for removal and storage of a hardtop I purchased this because I wanted to be able to remove the hardtop from my Jeep without help from other people. I also wanted to be able to store the top in an out-of-the-way place. This hoisting system is perfect. Installation was a little tricky, but if you take your time to understand the directions, you should have no problems. My hard top used to take up a lot of floor space until now. It hangs not only higher than my head so I can walk under it, but I trust the hoist enough to hang the top over my Harley-Davidson Tri Glide! Simple to install and use pulley system Hardest part about this pulley system is visualizing and measuring how exactly you are going to mount this system to the roof or rafters. In my case I had exposed rafters and drilled straight into them for the pulley system. I completed the entire job by myself with no assistance at all in just under 3 hours.

Had the roof off of my jeep in under 10 minutes from removing the back screws to actually lifting the roof up. Excellent bang for your buck I highly recommend this pulley system especially if you have a lifted jeep as manually lifting the roof off with your wife is extremely difficult.. Simple to install and easy to use Wanting to be able to remove the hard top without begging for help from teenagers, I knew I needed a system to take it off. I searched the Internet for quite a bit and found Extreme Terrains' hoist system. The installation went fairly well. The directions were easy to follow. I'm able to access the attic above the garage which made finding the joists easier. Once installed, we had the Great Lift of 2015! I was a bit nervous, but it came off smoothly. With a tall garage, I can lift it to the ceiling and be able to walk under it. The mechanisms are smooth and easy to use. I highly recommend this product; particularly if you don't want to ask a teenager for help.

Harken Hoister, piece of cake. This hoist system is easy to install and works with almost no effort. I had tried to engineer my own system with ratchet straps but lowering the top smoothly was impossible. The Harken System raises and lowers the top for my Wrangler smoothly and effortlessly. The install was pretty simple, it took about an hour. The most challenging part was tying the lift ropes to the webbing. Again, not difficult but it took a couple tries to get it right. Anyone with decent knot skills I am sure would get it on the first try...Very easy to use and makes taking the jeep hard top off fast. I made my own lift out of ratchet straps but with this lift it takes half the time and makes it very easy to store the top snug with the garage raftors. I got this product hoping to be able to take the top on and off by myself. As you are probably doing too. The hardest part about this was installing it. But that's because the parking garage I use has concrete ceilings.

So I the parts to boards and then mounted the boards. Once up everything was fairly simple and easy to figure out. I didn't follow the directions, just kind of winged it. The only thing I didn't do correctly the first time was lining up the knots. I got it lifted off fairly simple but since the knots weren't lined up properly it came off at a crazy angle and wouldn't reach the ground. So after I got a little help putting it on the ground, I realigned everything and it's worked perfectly ever since. I don't have room to store it above the jeep so it has to be stored elsewhere. Just make sure your knots are lined up properly the first time and you won't have any issues at all. Perfect solution for removing the Jeep's hard top. Hardtop Hoist is a must have!Perfect for removing your JK Wrangler hardtop without the help of another person and is fairly easy to install in your garage or car port. This product makes lifting easy I must say this is a nice hoist for the money.

Lifts top very smoothly with no hitching. I gave a 5 star rating due to fact that it is everything your looking for. Makes lifting by yourself easy. I installed in 2 hours. Instructions are ok, they are a little hard to follow unless you have building experience. Overall a very good product for the money Good product but needs more detailed instructions The item works as expected. A couple notes, the block and tackle MUST be in the position closest to the organizer BEFORE you start to lift your object otherwise you'll only get so far and then be like huh ? Not much for the money just some ropes and hardware. Could not use in my garage as it was obstructed by a built in wall shelf. Not noted until I got the instructions that you can not have obstructions on the back wall of the garage. Cost me $10 to return! The Harken Hoister is an excellent buy. The installation was a little time consuming but simplistic. One of the greatest features about this setup is that it pulls the top straight up.
