Mark and Sandy from Jackson, MI were dealing with several different foundation issues. Their biggest concerns were the two leaning retaining walls in their yard. The walls had started to lean because of the expanding soils putting pressure on the walls. Mark and Sandy were worried that the leaning walls might collapse completely if something wasn’t done about them. To repair the walls and give Mark and Sandy their peace of mind back, our crew treated the retaining walls the same way they would treat bowing basement walls. After all, it's pretty much the same problem. Our Geo-Lock Wall Anchor System stops basements walls from bowing by anchoring the wall against the pressure, so the crew knew they could achieve similar results with the leaning retaining walls. Once the wall plates were attached to the side of the wall opposite the soil, steel rods were used to connect them to the anchors. The actual anchors were placed into deep, untouched soil about 20 feet away from the walls. After the installation of the anchors was complete and the stability of the wall ensured, the crew placed Hide-A-Way covers over the wall plates.

Usually, the Hide-A-Way covers are used to cover up the wall plates in basements so that the repair is almost unnoticeable. But in Mark and Sandy’s case, the covers will also help protect the wall plates from the outside elements. Mark and Sandy were so happy with our work, that they’ve already asked us to come out and help with their other foundation problems. As is often the case, our customers had a few problems on their property, but it was the settling of their gardening building that prompted them to call. When the garage door for the building stopped closing properly, their contractor discovered that the support slab was cracked and the floor had sunk 2-3" in places. Likely the nearby irrigation system, which helped the soil wash away and destabilized the foundation. They also had a few leaning retaining walls and some slabs in their driveway that had shifted and settled, but at this time their main focus was the garage. We used GeoLock Wall Anchors and PolyLevel to raise the slab and stabilize the walls, rerouted some drainage to circumvent the soil washout, and made plans to return in the future when they were ready to proceed with the other issues.

Matthew had a wet, leaky basement and needed a way to control the flow of water that entered. Ayers Basement Systems installed WaterGuard, WaterGuard Inspection Ports, a 4" IceGuard and a LawnScape Outlet, all to backup the TripleSafe sump pump that would be pumping water out of the basement. All of these systems work together to create an even flow of water that will leave the basement and be pumped to an external discharge line outside. Matthew no longer has to worry about a wet basement. The TripleSafe sump pump will keep his basement space dry and usable. Kirk had water leaking into his basement and needed a sump pump and proper drainage system. Ayers Basement Systems was able to install a SuperSump sump pump, 4" IceGuard, WaterGuard drainage system and LawnScape discharge line. Kirk's basement is now able to safely drain water to a designated area outdoors so his basement won't flood. The whole process took two days.
