They came out but didn't tell them about the $75 service charge...then the technician said that the spring was broken, but that since the spring was "contractor grade", he was unable to replace it and had to put in spring, 'bearings' and all that- but not a new motor (which is a liftmaster, we all have them). She said it was quoted at $600 and had a "lifetime warranty". I googled and read that there is no such thing as a lifetime warranty for springs and repairs were usually in the $200 range. I told her you all would have some experience with garage door repairs in Raleigh and could maybe tell us if this is way too much or if there is some validity to the quote. Seems a bit high. I am curious because we have the same builder, so if mine conks out I'd like to know what to expect regarding this contractor spring thing.
