So, I'm going to give you information and examples, and hope that the shotgun approach works.My roommate re-arranged his bedroom.  It is the room right next to the living room where the cable modem/router is.  He suddenly couldn't connect anymore.  He went from having about 90% signal, to about 10%.  Turns out, he moved his chest of drawers and an armoire full of clothes against the wall between his laptop and the living room.  All that soft material was enough to kill the signal.  I gave him a WiFi dongle and a USB extension cable, and we hung that above the laptop... above the height of all those tightly packed clothes, and his signal went back up to 70%.You see... soft material soaks up WiFi.  That means furniture, stored clothes, mattresses, wood/drywall/walls, people... all of that can and will block and absorb WiFi signals.Both WiFi (B and G) and Microwave ovens operate on essentially the same frequency. (2.4 to 2.5 GHz for those WiFi, and 2.45 GHz for the Microwave).  The Microwave is a metal box shielded to trap those waves inside. 

You don't want to be microwaving your entire kitchen when you turn it on, right?  If your router is on one side of the Microwave, and your laptop is on the other.... that Microwave might just act like a WiFi black hole, trapping any signal that tries to pass through it.There was a laptop brought into the shop where I work, that was having connection issues.  After a couple of days of heavy testing, I took the lid apart... because that is where WiFi antenna leads live, inside laptops.  The card itself might be mounted to the motherboard, but the actual antennae are in each top corner of the lid (unless you have something like an HP 2000 laptop, or a Dell Inspiron 1200, which each only have one antenna).  In this case, one of the antennae was actually mounted incorrectly and coming in contact with the metal frame around the LCD panel.  When we had asked her if there had been any changes to the laptop... if anyone had worked on it before she brought it to us, she had forgotten that she had the screen replaced somewhere else, immediately before having the WiFi problems.

Also if it doesn't work check phone router cable connections, sometimes if its cheap adapter(wifi) it also drops the signal quite often and yes make sure when you reconnect check you are connected to your own network not one across the street.If you are still facing problem then contact computer technical support service adviserMy experience may be unrelated to yours, but it had some of the same symptoms. My primary router was a Cisco DPC3825. I was trying to get wireless connections out in our backyard, and finally settled on adding an Apple Airport Extreme. I used it only occasionally in our combination LAN and wireless networks. Many months later I found that I was losing connectivity to my Cisco router. I thought it was overheating or something, and I would power off, cool it with canned air, and resume. Sometimes that appeared to be a cure. I tried other things on PCs and software. I went to my service provider and got a new replacement router. Sometime OK and sometime not. Then I removed my powerful Airport Extreme from service and have not had the problem since.
