Shearmac has successfully completed the supply and installation – Aluminium Joinery trade for Synlait Administration Building in Dunsandal for us. Shearmac have met their budget and performed with the highest of professionalism given the construction program was very tight in a very complex build. Shearmac Aluminium was appointed the contract for the supply and install of the aluminium joinery at our recently completed Hotel refurbishment project at 165 Cashel St, which was rebranded “Breakfree on Cashel”. The project involved seismically upgrading the two existing buildings and complete refurbishment of these buildings which comprise the largest hotel in Christchurch with 263 rooms.

The contract initially involved the supply only of new double glazing units to one of the facades damaged by adjacent demolition; Shearmac was able to offer an unmatched lead time for these at a very competitive price. As the scope of the project progressed, so did the size of the aluminium package with another substantial stage added to construction including a complex frameless glass entry lobby and several other windows and doors, more than doubling the scope of the project. This was no problem to Shearmac who took on the challenge and were able to deliver their project on time and within an ever tightening construction programme. We worked together on some of the details and created some bespoke detailing using some of the profiles available to Shearmac with some fantastic results. After completion of a hassle free project, I have no reservations in recommending Shearmac Aluminium for future commercial works. From our very first contact through to installation the service has been fantastic.

What matches this is the thermally broken aluminium windows and doors. We had the aluminium joinery installed in Spring 2013. I’ve waited till after Winter 2014 to have a verdict on the windows and doors from Shearmac. The words that come to mind to describe thermally broken aluminium windows and doors are brilliant, warm, dry, great investment. When I was told less condensation forming on the aluminium windows and doors I was somewhat sceptical. How wrong I was. No sign of moisture forming on windows or the aluminium jonery. I’ve also noted heating costs haven’t increased in this much larger home. I put this mainly down to the thermally broken aluminium joinery.
